Your Responsibilities

Your Work

The gulf between the nature of work in Year 11 and Year 12 is wide, and two points are worth identification.

The pace of work required can be deceptive.  Although you will be studying fewer subject areas, it will not be an easier time! This would be a complete misconception.  Each subject is covered in far greater depth and emphasis is often placed on evaluation and analysis of subject material.  Embarking on a two year Advanced course does not mean automatic progression from Year 12 to Year 13.  Your progress is carefully monitored in Year 12 and if this proves unsatisfactory, movement to Year 13 will be with-held.  All school references for Higher Education applications and employment are based mainly on progress and achievement in the Year 12.  Therefore AS level grades will feature on UCAS applications.

The need for self management is probably the most distinctive feature distinguishing life in Year 11 from that of Years 12 + 13.  Although the academic curriculum is time consuming there will be opportunity for PRIVATE STUDY when students are not in timetabled lessons.  Students will be expected to use this time wisely in Library spaces or subject rooms.  Students must be aware that full attendance in any given subject is essential otherwise continuation in Sixth Form will be in jeopardy.

Year 12 students should note that they are expected to be present for the full day from 8.30.am to 3.15pm.  NOTE that A2 courses begin immediately after AS exams in the Summer Term.

All Year 12 Students are expected to attend Games lessons on Wednesday Period 4 every week, unless they have a timetabled lesson, or make alternative arrangements with Sixth Form Tutors.

Sixth Form Assembly and Tutorials are compulsory.

As a member of our school community

Foremost among these responsibilities is behaviour. Your behaviour, as the most senior members of the school must be an example to others. General conduct, attendance and punctuality are watched carefully.  Although there is no specified uniform dress should be casual but smart.  Senior staff are the final arbiters as to what is acceptable.

Attitude

IN ALL THESE MATTERS, STUDENTS HAVE GENERALLY HAD A RESPONSIBLE ATTITUDE IN THE SIXTH FORM - EXTREMES CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AND IF YOU FIND AN ADHERENCE TO SUCH REGULATIONS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, THE SIXTH FORM IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU.

Parking

Sixth Form pupils are NOT allowed to park their cars on the school premises at present due to shortage of space.  A cycle rack is available.
